Kenneth Foster
Kenneth was wrongly sent to death row in 1997.
But he is still in prison.
The story behind “Free Kenneth Foster”
The following is an extremely intricate and stirring story and we hope that the testament of it can bring awareness to society and ignite some progressive activism.
The day of the execution
in May 2007 Kenneth recieved a date of execution for August 30, 2007
Unprecedented Action
Within 6 hours of his scheduled murder, Governor Rick Perry commuted Kenneth’s sentence to life. The ruling was unprecedented and the first ever commutation done by Rick Perry.
The Death Sentence
How it all came together
1
Kenneth Foster drove a car with four passengers. Kenneth stopped on a parking lot. One passenger left the car and shot someone to death.
2
The murder did it without announcing it beforehand, without telling anybody. Even after the crime: Kenneth and the fellow passengers didn’t know about the murder.
3
The two other passengers got a prison sentence. Kenneth was forced to go to trial with the admitted shooter, because he was the driver. Kenneth and the shooter were sentenced to death.
A victory for the Anti-Death Penalty Movement
Kenneth still has legal options pending to challenge his sentence and we plan to pursue all of them.
